Awaking to the peaceful sounds of Broome, we (metaphorically) danced for joy at the welcome warmth of the Wednesday morning!
Overlooking one of Broome's little hidden beaches, we enjoyed a truly delicious coffee with our Late Breakfast (or early lunch?).
Down a bumpy, vivid red dirt road, we were soon on our way to visit Willie Creek (a pearl farm!) with some friends. Along the way, we encountered a group of people shouting & waving colourful banners, obviously avid protesters.
We soon passed the pearl shop, before heading into the tough terrain of rocks & soft sand (more off-road adventures!), where we parked in the shade of a sheer cliff face. The others quickly grabbed their fishing rods & bait, & we all headed toward the sparkling blue water.
We took position on a small cliff overlooking the water, & they cast their lines off the edge. We sat silently in the sunshine (with the 30+ sunscreen close by!).
Time disappeared while we were on that cliff...
3 hours & 12 fish later, we headed back down the bumpy red road; sleepy from the sunshine & hungry for our dinner of fish!
Noticed a long tube hanging from a tree nearby, & when we enquired, it turned out to be the Famous Condom Tree (a home for Runaway Rubbers).
Even collected a stray coconut from the park on the way home.
Really feels like we're in the tropics now!!
....only because of the coconut...not the condoms...
